Adsys Controls wins Air Force contract to develop High Energy Laser (HEL) engagement simulator

Adsys Controls was awarded a contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop a new simulation technology to aid development of High energy Laser weapon systems. The HEL Engagement Image Generation for Hyperspectral Tracking (HEIGHT) program will model and simulate target imagery representative of HEL engagements to be used for beam control system testing.

The new technology provides modeling of effects including plasma formation, target vaporization, target reflectivity changes, and atmospheric propagation effects. The development team consisting of Adsys Controls and Pennsylvania State University is currently performing live testing for model development and validation. The new technology will enable high fidelity tracker development in a laboratory environment reducing the amount of field testing needed.
